Pointe Snaps No-Sews are a secure, no-sew way to attach your ribbons.
If you find sewing your ribbons a chore, you will love these - the tiny rings keep the ribbons on securely, and they're invisible from only a few feet away.
They can also be used for elastic if it's not too thick.
However, if you're thinking of buying Pointe Snaps, check with your teacher first. While many teachers approve, we've had one negative review (from a teacher who didn't even try them!), saying she expects all her students to sew on their ribbons "professionally".
They are fiddly to apply the first time, but once you get used to it they're much easier than sewing.
A few tips:
- The company sells special pliers, but any good pliers will do.
- Try them out on an old pair of shoes first as it takes practice - if you don't get them sitting flat, they'll rub and cause blisters.
- They're called Pointe snaps for a reason - they're for attaching ribbons to satin shoes, not leather or canvas, which are too thick.
