Lesser Known Pointe Shoe Brands
As well as the big players like Bloch, Capezio and Grishko, there are many smaller point shoe makers around the world. Here are just a few of them.
Aloart is a beautifully-made Italian brand of pointe shoe. They have four models - the Alina, for dancers with strong feet and high arches; the Lola, their professional shoe; the XWB 1001 which is a canvas shoe with a 3/4 shank; and the XWB 1001/R which is the same shoe in satin.
Cameo is a private company in Pennsylvania which manufactures dancewear and shoes. They offer one model of pointe shoe in a medium or hard shank.
Capulet's pointe shoe, the Juliet, comes in several versions - but its flagship is the revolutionary D3o. It's made with an amazing synthetic lining which makes the shoes soft and flexible, yet extremely shock absorbing, supportive and durable.
Cecilia Kerche - these Brazilian shoes are made of natural paste for quietness and flexibility. They're pre-arched with a "memory shank", and don't need a lot of breaking in. There is a style for each foot type in the range.

Me.Me pointe shoes are made by craftsmen from the old Gamba company. Their range is growing all the time, and they offer extensive customisation options for professionals.
Merlet is well-known in France. Merlet USA markets its own range of pointe shoes which is not the same as the French range.
Principal is a new Canadian brand designed by Chan Han Go
Rumpf is a well-known German shoe manufacturer which offers two pointe shoe models, the Maria and the Anna.
Só Dança is another Brazilian brand, which markets Cecilia Kerche pointe shoes as well as their own design.
Teplov is a South African pointe shoe company.
Wear Moi is a long-established balletwear company which has finally produced its own pointe shoe. Its tapered box has similarities to Grishko's.
