Shoes for Wide Greek Feet?

Jaime asks:

Hello! What kind of shoe would be best for greek feet which are a little wide and a high arch? Is the capezio contempora the best?

Answer:

Jaime, the Contempora is a good shoe for Greek feet, and with a high arch you'll need that long vamp. If you're wearing the Contempora now and it feels good, you probably have a "medium" profile.  Other shoes that might suit you are Bloch Amelie and Heritage, and the Freed Studio II.

My pick would be the Heritage, because it's a bit wider than the Amelie.  It's a gorgeous-looking shoe, designed along Russian lines with a flattering v-shape vamp.

The Amelie was designed for beginner students and is a good, all-purpose shoe.

Personally I love Freed - they are beautifully made and if they're the right fit for you, they are the best shoes ever.  However, they don't last as long as Blochs, so they can be a bad choice for students - they work out very expensive!
